"Briar Patch" Euphorbia is the hybrid offspring of e. tirucalli "Sticks on Fire" and e. stenoclada "Silver Thicket". It forms a dense green shrub whose bark is worse than its bite - despite the name, it is completely thornless! The plant will stay much smaller when kept in a container, and makes for a very attractive houseplant.

Euphorbia can be propagated by stem cuttings, which should be left to dry for 2-3 days before planting in a coarse potting soil kept just moist enough to prevent the cutting from drying out. Wear gloves and do not get the sap in your eyes or mouth! Euphorbias contain a milky white latex sap which is caustic and can cause irritation or rashes if it comes in direct contact with skin, and is poisonous if ingested.
