A newer cultivar, Bob Gordon was introduced from the University of Missouri in 2011. It produces large clusters of white flowers from May through June, which ripen into small to medium sized purple fruits in July and early August. Fruits can be used for wine, juice, jams and jellies, or for drying. The flowers and also be dried and used for tea or wine. Responds well to pruning which is recommended to maintain a useable size. Very attractive as a food crop for wildlife. Pollinate with any other American Elderberry.
